Position Overview
To manage and lead a Team of Legal and Risk personnel to provide legal and risks services and to monitor, manage and mitigate risk for the Organisation.
The incumbent will be responsible for leading and managing the Company’s Risk and legal functions, advising and reporting on strategic systems of internal control and risk management practises. This position will be tasked with the implementation of key legal and risk processes that relate to legal drafting, negotiations and commercial settlement agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor Legal Risks and stakeholder relations
  • Take full responsibility of Legal and Risk Strategy and mitigate the risk for the business
  • Develop and implement the company’s risk charter, policy and strategy
  • Analysing and identifying risks and implications of all the business’s transactions, keeping senior management in all
    departments of the business informed of developments in laws and regulations that potentially affect the business
  • Oversee and ensure legal and risk across the business is at minimal
  • Maintaining the business’s integrity both internally and externally (reputational risks)
  • Assist and instruct external legal partners to identify potential risks and assess these risks, which could
    impact the business
  • Scrutinise insurance claims and factors that contribute to claims in order to reduce the claim costs
  • Must gather data, review procedures, identify ways to reduce risk and develop a strategy of implementing changes
    in the workplace

Qualification and Experience

  • The Candidate must have a LLB Degree with a Risk Management Qualification
  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience within Financial Services
  • Experience in Risk Management, qualified attorney with experience in Commercial contracts and Insurance
  • Experience in leading negotiations on complex, high value, contracts and agreements
  • Must have proven experience in creating departmental priorities that align strategic direction of the department
    and the overall business objectives
